New Work Group: Special Crop Biotechnology
The work group was newly established at the Institute of Horticultural Science in the field of viticulture
and is closely linked to already existing groups in the field of Clonal Genomics and Physiological Fingerprint.
The main focus of all groups is the characterisation of grapevine vitality and the maintenance and increase of grape quality.
Aim of the work group is the description of physiological processes in the plant by using modern methods in the field of transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics.
Berry shrivel, a physiological disorder of grape berries, is a severe problem for wine growers.
The causing agents of the symptoms are still not known, therefore a new research project is started with the aim to solve this complex problem.

Diese Arbeitsgruppe wird im Fachbereich Weinbau neu etabliert und stellt somit eine sinnvolle Ergänzung zu den bestehenden Arbeitsgruppen der Klonalen Variabilität und des Physiologischen Fingerprints dar. Die Schwerpunkte aller Arbeitsgruppen liegen im Bereich der Charakterisierung der Vitalität der Rebe und der Sicherung der Traubenqualität. Ziel der Arbeitsgruppe ist die Charakterisierung physiologischer Vorgänge in der Weinrebe mit Hilfe moderner Methoden auf Transkriptions-, Metabolome- und Proteomeebene. Ein aktuelles Problem für die Winzer stellt die Traubenwelke dar, eine physiologische Störung der Rebe, deren Auslöser bislang nicht identifiziert wurde. In einem neuen Forschungsansatz soll die Traubenwelke Symptomatik aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln betrachtet und somit geklärt werden.
